Dissolving Boulders II: The Sound of Silence
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
Last week we talked about affirmations as a strong tool to use for removing obstacles in the paths to our earthly and spiritual goals. This week we'll address something you've seen frequently in my writings: meditation.
We speak a great deal in ADL about the importance of meditation, the silence, and time alone for personal reflection. Most of us use these techniques in our individual and collective spiritual practices. This often seems like a way of dealing with questions or doubts that's too obvious. For me it's almost always my first go to problem solver, even though most times, meditation itself doesn't really clear away issues or fix what's wrong. But solutions don't usually make themselves known until we have given them a chance to rise up over the cacophony of distractions and messy life issues that we deal with on a daily basis. The true advantage of meditation is the opportunity to really listen, without outside interference, to our own feelings and perceptions. In most cases our inner selves, our "higher" selves, will find and "know" solutions to most of our challenges if we just give ourselves some time in the silence to let answers rise to our conscious awareness.
So especially when you think you might already know the answers to your questions or when you're looking for solutions to your problems, meditation is always your best friend.
Affirmation: I now take time in the silence to acknowledge my Oneness with All-That-Is. In meditation, I have all of the knowledge and wisdom of the universes at my command.
I now allow, acknowledge, accept, and affirm that these things are so.
