The Art of Affirming
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
This last week of the interpretation of my benediction is for the word "affirm." This verb may be the most powerful one in my blessing. By affirming something, I state or assert positively what I have allowed, acknowledged, and accepted in the earlier part of the sentence. I express aloud an agreement with, and support of, the affirmation I have made.
Sometimes, declaring that a situation has a positive outcome-- even when I'm not sure I buy into that goodness--can produce the effects of what I'm searching for anyway. When I pronounce something as true, I put that connectedness back into Divine Source Energy, which can activate the statement in my life, making the statement firm or fixed. Never underestimate the power of the spoken word!
Affirmation: I am protected, strengthened, cherished, prospered, and guided by the power and Love of Infinite Source Energy which flows in me, through me and as me now.
Benediction: I now allow, acknowledge, accept, and affirm that these things are so.
