Another New Angel - Rev. Kipp Price
Wrapped in Love, Kipp Price of Gainesville Fl. passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice on Sat., Oct. 26th, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. A true force of nature, Kipp Tyler Smith was born to Jeanette Ozanne Smith and Thomas Smith, in Miami Beach, FL. She grew up in Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, and Coral Gables. She ‘willingly’ attended the Everglades School for Girls after making a deal with her mother that she would get a car after it was over. Kipp also attended Gables High School where she was elected “Most Likely to Succeed.” She earned a BA in English with a minor in Education from the University of Miami and pursued a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Colorado and the University of Northern Colorado.
Kipp was and still is, a bright star amongst us. Greatly influenced by her grandmother Gifford’s spiritualism, she easily shared great spiritual truths and understood that Love is everything.
Kipp had the “gift of gab,” and loved talking with people when she was shopping. She had an amazing ability to remember names and their stories and their kids names, etc. One of her hairdressers’ said “she made everybody feel like they were the most important person, and that their purpose on earth was the most important thing. She saw the beauty in everyone.”
Her list of accomplishments include: teaching challenging kids, promoting adult literacy awareness programs, Bible study groups in nursing homes, volunteering at several non-profit groups, creating lesson plans for delinquent middle school students, and creating yoga classes for mentally and physically challenged adults. Kipp received many awards for her work as an educator in Miami.
After she moved to Gainesville with her husband Larry Price, she once again, dove into community service. Kipp organized a Neighborhood Crime Watch, helped children at the Ronald McDonald House, worked for the March of Dimes and a participated at local crisis center, while helping Larry raise and support his daughters, Wendy, Pam and Paula. Later she volunteered at Haven Hospice.
An extremely curious person with many interests, she especially loved reading, spirituality, gardening, cooking, theater, film and travel. She won many friends in Gainesville through her volunteer activities and as a member of Unity Church of Gainesville and the Seraphim Center. She was ordained as a minister in 1999 by the Alliance of Divine Love and worked for that ministry for many years. Kipp travelled widely in such countries as Russia, South America, Mexico, Canada, the Bahamas, Greece and throughout the United States.
Witty, artistic, wise, funny, generous, grateful and spiritual, Kipp loved her family and friends. She is especially remembered for her infectious laugh, her fashion sense, her beauty, her focus on the positive, and her deep love for her partner of 14.5 years, Jane B. Roy, and their fur baby Happy.
She is preceded in death by her sister Priscilla and her husband Buddy, her brother Todd, nephew Karl, cousin Derek, many beloved friends, including Ed and Al, and her dog Paris.
Her survivors include all the thousands of people she loved and uplifted. You know who you are. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Many friends and store clerks and cashiers will also miss her radiant and loving vibes!
A memorial service is planned for Monday November 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens.
