Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
There are days, and then there are DAYS. And on those DAYS, I just don't want to hear it, no matter what it is.
My daily readings and spiritual guidebooks talk about blue skies, warm sunshine, and fragrant flowers...and I just don't care. My astrological report for the day says I should get moving to create a new life path for myself... and I don't even want to get out of bed. My guided meditation wants me to breathe deeply and exhale fully. What I really wan…
The Reason I'm Here
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
The gurgles of a mountain stream, the conversations of nearby birds, and the buzzing of industrious insects flow past my mind as I start relaxing into my time for meditation. In these moments I rest my body and my thoughts, giving my attention to the knowing of Source Energy in my consciousness. It is here in the birthplace of All-That-Is, that I begin to realize my potential, my power, and my capacity for Love. I let Love sweep over me now.
I am an expressio…
Nurturing My Senses
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
As I close my eyes and take a few peaceful breaths, I allow myself to settle into and enjoy my physical senses.
I feel the muscles around my eyes, my lips and my face become lax and I allow myself to feel a gentle breeze flowing over me, cooling me, comforting me, and bringing me contentment.
While I relax, I imagine soft music for my ears, maybe the tones of a flute or a harp, or the easy sounds of nature's calming melodies.
My mouth comes into my awareness al…
The Love of Source Energy
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
I relax into the silence, reconnect to my spiritual self and restore my human mind and body to a place of calmness and tranquility. It is in this place, One with Divine Source Energy, that I begin to know the Love that Spirit has for me. When I feel it, the sensation of wholeness is indescribable and undeniable. I absorb as much as my mind and heart can allow, and any earthly challenges I may be facing fade away. I am whole, healthy in all ways, and secure i…
Flames
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
Affirmation: I am an unlimited spark of the Divine, bursting into the flames of Love, peace, healing, compassion, prosperity, and spiritual understanding. As I focus on my connection to Infinite Energy, I visualize all these things for myself, for others, and for the world.
I now allow, acknowledge, accept and affirm that these things are so.
As a regular contributor to "The Rose", Rev. Rita's column "Sacred Thoughts" will feature her blog post…
Confronting the Icebergs - Part III
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
So far in this miniseries, we've discussed the importance of journaling and identifying uncomfortable feelings that rise up like icebergs in our lives for unknown reasons. We've also talked about how we block our own paths to resolving these unexpected emotions.
This week, now that we know the sources of our current upset, let's move forward into discovering answers for the difficult situations we've uncovered.
Most of us know, and have recommended to others, …
Confronting the Icebergs - Part II
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
In last week's discussion, we talked about the dilemma of feeling dissatisfied in our lives, even when we're doing everything we know how to do, to have lives as full of happiness and joy as possible. We broke out our journals and wrote down what we could identify about the uneasiness we were feeling.
Let's examine now some of the impediments to fully dealing with our "dis-ease."
I may have written in my journal that someone else's actions, or even some of my …
The Junkman
by Rev. Estelle Thibodeau
There is a little house on a certain street that I walk by nearly everyday. The house has boards and plastic bags covering most of the windows. The front door is painted the same charcoal black as the plastic bags on the broken windows. The porch is a small stoop of dilapidated wood and broken planters holding dried withering blooms and green wandering weeds. On occasion, there is a man that sits there with his front door partially open. I try to see i…
Confronting the Icebergs - Part I
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
I did my meditation for the day. Check. I studied passages from the two spiritual books that I'm reading. Check. Check. I took time during the day to stop the mayhem around me and center myself at least three times. Check. Check. Check.
I did everything right. So when I finish with my responsibilities for the day, why do I still feel so crappy? What is it that is making me feel uneasy, incomplete or overburdened? Why does it seem like I'm not finished with th…
The Answers to Prayers
by Rev. Rita Scheibeck
I now raise up (name/names) with my faith in Love, goodness, and the joy of life. I send them the peace of knowing, deep inside their hearts, that all is well. I am grateful for the answers to their prayers: for clarity, for peace of mind, for healing and harmony, and for great abundance in every area of their lives.
Affirmation: I now affirm that all the answers to prayers begin with Love.
I now allow, acknowledge, accept and affirm that this is so.
